Hollywood Hills Speedway 2008 Cruiser  Rules

 Mission: to offer a fun, affordable, and safe entry-level class of racing.

Machine:

·         Domestic and import two wheel drive passenger cars only, to include station wagons, El-Caminos and Rancheros. No pick-up trucks, vans, jeeps, sport utilities or convertibles. All glass, lights, chrome trim, mirrors and plastic must be removed from interior and exterior. All combustible interior to be removed with the exception of the seats. Rear seat is removable. Front and rear factory stock bumpers mandatory. Bumpers will be safety chained to chassis.  Stock steel unaltered floor pan, firewalls, trunk, wheel wells and door panels must be retained. No trimming of manufacture’s structural body metal allowed except for roll cage fit. Doors (all) will be welded, bolted or chained shut.

·         Machine must start on own power and have both forward and reverse motion and adequate four-wheel braking ability. Normally aspirated engines using carburetor or fuel injection only. All power train items to be factory stock for the particular model (Chevy to Chevy, Olds to Olds and Ford to Ford etc) and located in their original locations. Carburetor to oil pan, water pump to rear differential cover will remain stock in nature. Brakes and Suspension will remain factory issue. No suspension modifications allowed (i.e. spring spacers, axle tie downs, weight jacks, etc.) Street tires only (no grooving) with a maximum tread contact width of 8 inches.  A/C, heater and smog devices may be removed. Must have stock exhaust manifold(s). Muffler(s) and must be unaltered, functional and soundly attached.

The word “STOCK” means: unaltered and as originally produced for that year, make, and model, including after-market replacement parts.

SAFETY:

 The following equipment and safety specifications are the minimum requirements to participate in the Cruiser division.  Any additional safety equipment is strongly encouraged by track management.

·         Driver / passenger will have current Snell approved helmets with eye protection. Denim pants, long sleeve shirts and work/safety boots and gloves at a minimum. Fire retardant suits strongly recommended.

·         Roll bar required. Minimum 1-1/2 inch .095 wall thickness, steel tube/pipe. One overhead hoop and two rear support kickers with one cross bar behind driver passenger seats. Roll bar should be welded to frame when possible. If welded to a floor pan a 3”x 3” x 1/8” steel plate is required at all junctions. If bolting to floor a 3”x 3” x 1/8” steel plate is required at all junctions plus 3”x 3” x 1/8” backing plate is required.

·         Passenger must be provided with a “hang on” bar. This may be mounted from the dash, floorboard or door bars and must be accessible to passenger while belted in.  Location cannot impede entry and exit of passenger from car. Can not pose a risk to passenger in the event of an accident

·         Window safety nets mandatory for driver and passenger door openings.

·          Factory stock seats and seat belts with functional shoulder belts are required at a minimum.

·         One securely mounted and charged fire extinguisher that is accessible by driver and passenger.

·         Full front window screen (metal mesh) covering both, driver and passenger with metal center support, from top to bottom of window opening. Battery will be soundly secured. No fuel lines in driver’s compartment. Fuel cells allowed.

·         Steel wheels only. The use of a reinforced or aftermarket steel (spoke type) wheel is recommended for the right front tire.

General overview:

1.       Track reserves the right to enforce the mission statement of the class at any time.

2.       Passenger and/or driver must be 16 years old to compete. No exceptions.

3.       Track reserves the right at any time to claim any car (minus safety equipment) for $500.00 or any Motor for $350.00

4.       In an effort to keep the Cruiser class an entry level, fun division, HHS will only pay out a maximum of four main event wins to any one car/driver.

5.       In no way will the rules be interpreted to allow a car that is technically superior to dominate the class or to be constructed in an unsafe fashion that poses a danger to the operator or other competitors.

6.       All machines will receive a one-time initial tech inspection. Track can/will perform random tech inspections. The track will have final decision regarding any safety-related issue(s) that may pose a risk to the public, self, staff and other competitors.

7.       General tech inspection will include race winner and optional random selection(s).

8.       Drivers may not be entered in any other class that evening/day without prior approval and may be asked to show basic competency regarding track procedures and machine operation.

9.       Numbers will be registered for one season. No triple digit number and no duplicate numbers allowed. Numbers must be legible and displayed in contrasting colors. Must be a minimum height of 20” on the doors and 30” on the roof.

10.   Any deviations from above rules will require track approval prior to entering in any competition at HHS as a cruiser.

11.   All other track rules, policies and procedures will apply.

12.   These rules may be amended at track’s discretion without notice.
